Use of same spice bottles for both meat and dairy

If I use a bottle of spices to shake out some spices over top a pot cooking meat (or dairy) such that steam from the meat (or dairy) food comes into contact with the bottle, can I continue to the bottle of spices in the same manner with the opposite, that is dairy (or meat)?

I think that if it was done it's ok to use for the opposite type since one usually holds it high enough so it's not actually very hot at that point, and very little steam would get in. But ideally you should hold it where steam won't hit it at all or use two separate containers.
